Pune, February 11: Loyola High School bagged a double crown at the recently conducted PSAA inter-school tennis tournament, winning the under-16 and under-18 team championships, both against the Bishops School. The under-16 won their final quite easily with a score of 3-0, courtesy Yash Mokashi and Rahul Kamthe. However, the u-18 team consisting of Vinayak Shrivastav, Ajinkya Kavthekar, Gaurav Mehta and Tanay Gupta was made to sweat it out, narrowly beating Bishops by a score of 3-2. Vinayak and Ajinkya showed great prowess to carry their team through. Loyola, in fact, reached the finals in all 4 age groups, but unfortunately the under-12 and under-14 teams were not able to taste success, going down in tough fights to Kalmadi Shamrao High School and St Vincent’s School respectively.
The Loyolites managed to make their mark on the individual championship as well, with Aahan Tagare of u-12, Yash Mokashi of u-16 and Vinayak Shrivastav of u-18 managing to make it to the finals of their respective events.
