Patekar inaugurates Super Speciality clinic

Spine Surgeon Dr Rajesh Parasnis opened Super Speciality "The Spine and Rehab Clinic" on February 3. Actor Nana Patekar inaugurated the clinic. It is well equipped to provide state- of- the-art treatment of back and neck problems. “This specialty clinic is devoted and equipped to treat the spine problems affecting the society at large. It offers most of the options for no operative management. All kinds of spine surgeries will be performed here and comprehensively all types of spine problems will be treated,” said Dr Rajesh Parasnis.

Botox training for medical practioners

Allergan India announced the launch of Botox institute in the country. The Institute's charter will be to provide basic skills and knowledge training to registered medical practitioners who are keen to add BOTOX to the list of services they provide to their patients.

New enhanced horlicks for Women

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare announced the launch of Women's Horlicks – the first health drink in India tailor-made for women – with the complete list of micronutrients for women from 19-50 years of age as recommended by the World Health Organisation. “This has been a very well thought out product where we have tried to keep our consumer's smallest needs in mind,” said Shubhajit Sen, vice president - marketing, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare.

Training in disaster management

100 youths from Kerala — all new entrants of Arogya Sena, completed one day training of Arogya Sena in ' Disaster Management, Medical Relief Work and Fight For Health Rights' on January 20. The training was organised through newly formed branch of Arogya Sena at Koruthodu, a small town from hilly areas of Mundakkayam panchayat,Kottayam district.This training has added a new feather in the cap of Arogya Sena, a voluntary organisation founded by Pune based cardiologist Dr.Abhijit Vaidya, in 1993. Arogya Sena has been working in ten districts of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir.

Study in echocardiography

Echocardiography Department of CARE hospitals led by cardiologists Dr A V Anjaneyulu and Dr K Raghu have completed a ‘path-breaking’ study to show that blockage of main artery that supplies blood to the heart can be identified by echocardiography. This unique study won the prestigious Navin Nanda Award for being the best research paper during the National Cardiology Conference held at New Delhi recently and also was accepted for publication in American Journal of Echocardiography.

Blood donation camp

The Indian Red Cross Society, Youth Peer Education Program, and the Youth Red Cross, of Abasaheb Garware College association with the PSI Blood Bank had organised a Blood Donation Camp on February 5. The principal of Abasaheb Garware College, R V Kulkarni, inaugurated the Camp. Around 150 students donated blood including the faculty.

Approval for tax-free donations

Maharashtra Medical Research Society, engaged in research in the field of medicine and surgery has been given approval by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi, as per section 35 (1) (ii) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.Maharashtra Medical Research Society is also approved as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by the Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi, thereby making donations given to the society tax-free.
